The seven different divisions of a zodiacal sign known as the Saptavarga:

Rasi, Hora, Drekkana, Saptamsa, Navamsa, Dwadasamsa and Trimsamsa.

When a sign or rasi is divided into two equal parts each is called a hora.
Each is of 15 deg. of arc. In odd signs like Aries, Gemini, etc., the first hora is governed by the Sun and the second by the Moon; and vice versa in the even signs like Taurus, Cancer etc.

Drekkana is a three-parts division of a sign or rasi, each of 10 deg.

Saptamsa is a 7-parts division of a rasi, each being 4 2/7 degrees of arc.

Dwadasamsa is a 12-parts division of a rashi, each being 2.5 deg. of arc.

Trimsamsa is a 30-parts division of a rashi, each being 1 deg. of arc.

For determining the strength of planets Saptavarga are taken into account.
